Next, I drew a 6″ diameter circle for the hole in top of the board. I made and assembled these using a circular saw, jig saw, scroll saw, compact drill, belt sander, and palm sander.įirst, I assembled a rectangle frame, 2′ x 4′, then attached a plywood top with same dimensions to the top of the frame. These are actually quite easy to make, or least they should have been, if I had some of the proper tools.

I know my cousin loves this ongoing joke with the boards. My running joke is that I started with the M*chigan boards first, just in-case I messed up. I ended up making 3 BGSU sets, 1 South Carolina set, and 1 M*chigan set. Mandy helped me paint many of the boards, and she made the bags (72 bags) for each set as well. The boards were made of 2×4’s and plywood. I must credit Kevin Parkins for this idea. Mandy and I made cornhole boards for my groomsmen (5 guys), Mandy’s sister and maid of honor, Stephanie, two sets for our parents, and of course, a set for us. This was one of my first woodworking projects last spring, when my workshop was still in the basement. In the meantime, I am using a Grip Clamp Guide on the bench to hold pieces down to the bench. I don’t mind them getting covered in saw dust, but I don’t want to worry about constantly cleaning it. By drilling holes in the bench, all the sawdust would go down onto the shelf below the bench which stores my current projects, and commonly used tools. One thing I keep going back and forth on, is whether or not to add bench dogs to the bench. The outlet on the bench is only powered when I plug in the extension cord that it’s connect to.Īll-in-all, I’m very happy with the bench. With my Dad’s assistance and input, we also decided to add an extra leaf to extend the depth of the bench, and add electricity to the bench. Trough on one side to move tools out of the way.Below are the requirements I had in planning my bench. I also was building on a budget some some items had to be sacrificed. I combined the best ideas and created my own. I really enjoyed building this workbench, as I had been looking at bench ideas for years from many known woodworkers, such as Norm Abram, Marc Spagnuolo, Steven Ramsey, and the guys of WoodSmith Shop.
